Have An Interview For A Pharmacy Tech Position…Is It Worth It?

Hello all! I’m wanting honest opinions, both good and bad about this and my situation. To start, the job I currently have pays 15/hr and is a pretty solid job. I work with addicts and mental health patients and help them rehabilitate and monitor their medication and behaviors whilst building relationships with them. However, there have been some arising safety concerns as well as situations that go past my pay grade. I’m passionate about this job and have a friend/family dynamic with the staff as well as friendly and positive interactions (majority of the time) with my residents.

My family, however, insists I find a safer and potentially higher paying job, and one on first shift as my second shift position has screwed up my sleep schedule and social life. With that, I have an interview for a Kroger Pharmacy Tech position lined up- just to see, ask questions, and know if it’s right. Before going in I wanted to ask those who have worked as a pharmacy tech; 1. Is it worth it/worth leaving a job I’m passionate about? 2. Is the pay worth it? 3. Is the mental/physical toll, if any, worth it? 4. Would the staff and coworker relationships be described as friendly or corporate?

Also, to note, I want to go into nursing. I have back issues so I think moving into a job with more movement to get used to that could also be beneficial as right now most of the time I’m sitting with residents around the facility or in an office.

Thank you in advance!
