Very confused about trading, I never get any response to my Direct Whispers

I'm on the trade site, trying to specifically get a Polcirkeln, and every time I direct whisper someone, it just goes totally ignored. I'm asking people who have it listed for 1-3 EX, and just no response. Then I read somewhere that someone paid 20 EX for it... so are those prices wrong? I guess I just don't understand how to get this item, I've whispered dozens of active people with no response.
