What size targets and shapes are used in competition?
New to PRS. Have only seen it on videos no idea where the closest competition to me would be to go watch but I love shooting long range by myself. I’ve been told I sit somewhere between PRS and F-class? I have only gone out to 800 yards but want to get more targets and go out further. I shoot my 8”square at 800 yards. My 6”square at 600 yards and I have a few 2/3 IPSC silhouette targets that I use at from 200yards and out. But im not 100% every shot at those 600 and 800 yard shots. Are PRS targets bigger than those targets at those distances? I’m trying to learn more and I have a couple questions (below) if anybody knows the answers to thank you!
In a PRS competition what size targets are used at what distances? Google has not been able to tell me a solid answer. It changes all the time.
Example is a 800 yard shot is it an 8” target? 1000yards is a 10” target? 1200yards a 12”target? 5” for 500 yards? 300 yards using a 3” target? Ect. You get the picture lol
Are they all one size at all distances? Like a 15” target at 300 yards and a 15” target at 700 yards? What distances do they go out to?
What shooting distances are average for a PRS competition? With where we are we have access to unlimited and open land without obstructions and unlimited yardage distances out to a few miles if we could but that’s never happen.
But I personally would like to get to 1500 yards if possible but just don’t know what size target would be best/most fun to practice on. Anyone would be able to get (with enough money) and equipment to haul and hang it, a huge gong target being 10’x 10’ but If the targets are bigger than 1MOA I’d like to get the same size targets and use those at the same ranges as competition as the PRS guys and then me and some friends would compete against each other lol
Thanks for your time in reading, sharing information and expertise, and helping a random guy out!
