Does it seem possible the Oscars would ever be screened live at movie theaters?

I don’t know much about the licensing of who gets to show the Oscars - I assume cable companies are extremely possessive of their rights? But it occurred to me that it might make sense to also do livestream screenings in movie theaters.

  1. Hollywood is preoccupied with bringing people back to the theaters

  2. It would make the event more accessible to people who don’t have cable and aren’t up to doing an annual free trial scavenger hunt

  3. Theaters could do intermissions, themed snacks, etc.

But the Oscars are also long and maybe something you prefer to talk through with friends and family.

Is this something you’d be interested in if it existed?
