Best way to introduce someone to the main anime?

So I have someone interested in a first time watch of the anime and I've been meaning to get Blu-ray sets of the main anime anyway...

Is it better to get the full original experience aka a box set of the anime (+ Rebellion)? Or will the movie versions suffice?

I'm based in Europe if that matters!
