A lil tierliest of monsters now I've finished low rank
S - Guardian Clifford - I always love the Odogaron fight, it's been incredibly fun all through World and I was very happy to see it in Wilds. Jin Dahaad - this really felt like a fight worthy of an apex, cinematic, challenging enough to satisfy, and with a great final phase.
A - Rey Dau - It's B+ until he hits his nest and then it's really cool. Another fight that felt like cinema. Xu Wu - I enjoyed how nimble and disjointed this felt. Zho Shia - except the third phase which I wasn't huge on, this was a really nice fight and I'm kinda gutted it's a one and done tbh.
B - Guardian Doshaguma - much more enjoyable than base Shaggy D. He felt much more threatening and aggressive. Guardian Rathalos - it's Rathalos, it's always been a great fight. The Guardian aspect amped it up nicely. Uth Duna - I sort of liked the split between the veil on and veil off modes, it was pretty fun.
Everything in C is decent but I don't have specific comments to make, I enjoyed the fights but they weren't enjoyable enough to leave an impression.
D - Ajarakan - I didn't like this one much. Learning the tell for his shoulder slam made it much more bearable but it's still not a fun fight overall, which is a shame because I was hoping he'd be more like a flaming Rajang and Raj is one of my top fights.
F - GuArk - HATED this fight. Might be a bad matchup for my weapon (Glaive) but his aerial hitboxes and the width of a lot of his stuff felt oppressive, to the point I had issues getting the gameplan going. No carts (I don't cart) but I am pretty certain this is my least favourite fight in all the MH games I've played which is a shame given it's the flagship monster, and I really would not want to fight this thing again out of choice.
