Mayan Eccentric

Central America, Ex Medina collection. This wonderful knapped eccentric was likely part of a votive cache that contained many similar pieces. Made out of a transparent chalcedony material that patinated with a great creamy color. Mineral deposits are also evident around the tail in the last photo. Mayan lithic eccentrics represent some of the most unique and finely crafted pieces that the America’s have to offer. (In my opinion of course.) I think this certain piece represents a Centipede or Scorpion, but let me know what you think.
