Kenshi Fact of the Day #97
-Rusted Junk-
When training Attack, Defense as well as Dexterity, Rusted Junk is the best quality of weapon to use for three reasons. The first two reasons are pretty obvious, that being that they have a -1 Attack and Defense penalty as well as do the least damage of any weapon quality.
The third reason (This part is for Dexterity) is because the lower the quality of a weapon, the higher the cut damage relative to blunt damage.
*Before some smart butt chimes in, yes, except the Jittes which have no cut damage and Katanas (Minus Topper) which have no blunt damage.
As I've explained in the past the Dexterity XP you are given when hitting enemies (In relation to Attack XP) is multiplied by (Cut damage)/(Cut damage+Blunt damage). Where the damages are what the damages on the weapon are.
*It's also multiplied by Stronger Opponent Logic using your Attack!
To show how much of a difference quality makes I'll show off a Rusted Junk weapon, compared to a Rusting Blade.
When you fill in the Rusted Junk Falling Sun you get 0.462/0.562 which equals around 0.822x Dex XP.
For the Rusting Blade Falling Sun it's 0.564/0.764 which equals just around 0.738x Dex XP. This is because the blunt damage of a weapon at Rusted Junk quality is just 10% of its damage multiplier, while the cut damage is 38.5%. They both scale up to equal 200% of their damage multiplier when at Cross quality.
*The Cut damage also gets 1.1x Cut damage because it's a Cross weapon, but you get my point. The cut damage starts out larger but increases slower than the blunt damage as a result.
For fun if you fill in the Cross version of the Falling Sun you get 2.64/4.64 which is just around 0.5689x Dex XP.
Remember to use Rusted Junk weapons when training early on! The higher your Attack gets the harder it will be to level your Dexterity!
