Cat-themed itinerary in Japan

Hello! I just came back from my first trip to Japan where I visited Tokyo, Nikko, Osaka, Kyoto, and Kawaguchiko. One of my goals was to visit as many cat-themed sights as possible. I had been curating possibilities for months before I went, and I also came upon quite a few just fortuitously. So since it took me some time and some luck, I thought I would list everything I saw here for others who may be interested in a cat-themed visit (and there are many others I did not get to).

Tokyo
-Cat Cafe Mocha in Shibuya. There are other locations, this was just the one I visited. It is not one of the cafes that does rescue and offers cats for adoption unfortunately, but I still liked it. It was large and clean with lots of room for the cats to walk around. Because the cats are domestic, it was not like some of the other animal cafes where normally wild animals are forced to live indoors, and it was comparable to other cat cafes I have visited around the world.
-Yanaka Ginza area. Here I went to the Cafe Nekoemon where you could sit and color a Maneki Neko cat while enjoying cat sweets such as eclairs, cookies, and others. There is a little store just next to it called Yanakado with lots of cat items. On the main cat street, there were several stores of cat items (Neno Fusen and another one I did not get the name of), and the Yanaka Shippoya bakery with cat tail treats. A few streets away there was the Neco Action store with lots of cute cat items. As for art, the Gallery Nekomachi is a tiny place with the cutest cat staircase and rotating cat art, and the Asakura Museum of Sculpture had a great cat sculpture exhibit.
-The Koide Shoten Maneki Neko store was close to Asakusa, and I loved this little shop and its enthusiastic owner. It had so many Maneki Neko cats of all kinds!
-You can't miss the giant 3-D cat billboard in Shinjuku - I took so many videos lol.
-The Gotokuji Temple was a little further out but totally worth it to see the thousands of Maneki Neko cats.

Nikko
-The Toshogu Shrine here has a lovely and famous sleeping cat carving. It was small but adorable.

Osaka
-I didn't see anything in Osaka itself, but took the train to Wakayama so I could take the Wakayama Electric Railway Kishigawa Line on the cat train. The main cat train was out of commission but the cat museum train was absolutely beautiful (and maybe even better than the regular cat train). I took it to the end to Kishi Station so I could eat in the little cat cafe, meet the cat stationmaster, and see the little shop. The train station is even shaped like a cat!

Kyoto
-I couldn't miss visiting the Nyan Nyan-ji Temple here which was not easy to get to, but so fun with all the cat art on display and little cat shrine (complete with cans of tuna).

Kawaguchiko
-Here I stumbled on the Dayan the Cat (Kawaguchiko Konohana) Museum. I had never even heard of Dayan the Cat before, but after the museum (and awesome gift shop), I was obsessed.

So that is all the cat things I saw! If there are others I missed, please let me know - like most folks who visit Japan, I can't wait to go back!
