Something I thought about today
I've noticed that a lot of people/hozier fans have this weird tendency to try and decode how he is as a partner or a person in general. I feel like people either think he is completely perfect and almost idealize him (which I feel is a very intense perseption of him and almost puts unrealistic pressure on him), or they think he is somehow a toxic partner becuse of the themes in his work. Not even kidding I just saw a whole tik tok today analyzing his song lyrics and why they have to mean that he is a toxic person who doesn't really love anyone and is incapable of being in a serious relationship. They also sited him being a pisces man as reasoning, like??? I don't know, I just feel like people need to stop. It's important to remember that he is a real person and that none of us know him in real life. Also the themes that he creates in his work don't have to be represenative of who he is as a person, and Hozier himself has also said that a lot of his songs are not written from personal experience but from the perspectives of different people. They are used as vessels to create and explore different themes and emotions (some that he has felt, but not always). I don't know I just think it is kind of weird and useless to speculate on things like this. I'm sure it also leaves an impact on Hozier himself to see his own fans sort of overanalyze him and tear him apart a bit. I think as fans, it is important and respectful to try our bests to almost separate ourselves from the personal lives of the artists and focus as much of our energy as possible on trying to just enjoy their work. That goes for anyone also, not just Hozier. I don't know I've just been feeling annoyed by this a lot today, so I thought I would put this out there.
