The eighth-generation (2006-2011) is the best-looking Civic. I never knew people hated the design of it.
When the 2006 Honda Civic first revealed, I recall everyone absolutely hating the way it looks. I, however, always felt the opposite.
I think it is the best that the Civic has ever looked, even compared to the newer ones. Its proportions are tight, its silhouette in every angle flows in a very sleek profile, and it beautifully takes advantage of its compact size to deliver it. It's also very clean and cohesive, and back when the Civic was small and fits the part.
The eighth-gen Civic is even back when the Si was incredibly fun and nimble, before it eventually became more docile and softer over the years. The later Civics are not only as big-feeling as that of a '90s Accord, but they also have less charm to me. Their designs also seem more generic than it's ever been, except for the 10th Gen which I think looks rather overstyled with the added complaint of how heavier and it feels no longer compact as what the car used to be.
But, this is just my personal hot take. I have always loved the 8th-gen Civic, especially the design of it. I think it has aged beautifully.
