Got a perm three weeks ago, and it’s been falling out in clumps. Help!!
Got a perm two and a half weeks ago, it was fine until I washed it with the Biotera color care shampoo and conditioner the salon basically demanded I use for it. I didn’t wash it until the recommended 72-hour mark. I use redken 25-in-1 spray after the shower every night, I take hair skin and nail vitamins, I only dry it with an old cotton tee shirt, and I sleep with a silk bonnet on. I’ve also had a perm in 2022 and it never did any of this. I stopped using what they’ve recommended and am now using Redken extreme repair shampoo with biotin while I wait for the matching shampoo to come in with my Joico moisture recovery conditioner. Nothing’s helping.
Not to mention, my first perm was pretty. The curl pattern was perfect and consistent. This one just does whatever it wants. Some of it’s straight, some of it’s wavy, and the curls are vary greatly in size. And don’t even get me started on the bangs.
The first picture is from a shower last night, and the second one happened about ten minutes ago. My hair just decided to start falling out like that. I feel like it’s getting thin and patchy. I don’t know what to do. I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve never had anything like this happen before.
The stylist that did it is offering to “fix” it in about two weeks but I don’t want her touching my hair ever again. There’s another woman that’ll fix it for me at the end of march, but I don’t know if it’s okay to perm it again. My naturally thick, straight hair has always been an insecurity of mine. I never know how to cut it or style it, so I want to grow it out, but it’s so awkward during that stage and it makes me feel so ugly so I just end up wearing a hat every day. I’ve only ever felt like I looked good with curls. I don’t want to go bald.
