Usb not recognised in pixel 8 pro

Just got the 8 pro last week and was trying to get an external hard drive and flash drive to work, but it's not showing up in the files app. I just updated to android 15. Anybody got any idea. I'm using the pixel cables and converter that came with the phone. It's works on my computer and the gars drive shows up in my Xiaomi phone and Samsung tablet, so it's not the hard drive or flash drive.
