Gaming Laptop for a Trucker: Prioritizing Performance (4080) - Legion Pro vs. ASUS G16?

I am a Long-haul trucker which I'm home every other weekend and can be home every weekend if I desire. After years of primarily playing CS2 on my home PC (10850k & 2080ti), the Battlefield 6 leaks have me itching to upgrade! I'm looking to dive back into Battlefield and Warzone, and my current rig is definitely showing its age.

Since I'm on the road a lot, a gaming laptop seems like the perfect solution. I've been doing my research and have pretty much settled on a 4080 laptop to ensure top-tier performance. The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (or similar) seems to be a popular choice, and I'm aiming to snag one on sale for around $2000 USD.

However, I've noticed the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) is currently on sale. While the form factor is appealing, I'm a bit concerned about the CPU performance compared to the Intel HX series in the Legion Pro.

My main question is:

  • For someone who heavily values performance in CPU-intensive games like Battlefield and Warzone, is the CPU in the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) going to be a significant bottleneck compared to the Legion Pro's Intel HX CPU?

  • Should I wait for a sale on a Legion pro or another laptop with a HX series processor, or is the Asus G16 a good option?

  • Are there any other 4080 laptops I should be considering within my budget that prioritize performance?

I'm in no rush, so waiting for the right deal is fine. Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance."

Update (2025-4-1) just ordered the acer predator Helios 16 on Amazon from the Acer recertified store for $1700. Seems like a good deal so I took the plunge!
