How do I get the lantern?

I have tried two times now trying to get the lantern and can’t bc there is always a fish CAMPING THE SLEEPING FISH, so is there a way to counter this, or does the game just hate me bc it took me four weeks to catch a single orca and still failed the second time to get the lantern. Also I’m willing to give a sparkling Meg for a lantern if u got an extra.
