Review of Decants (2/6) - Rue Broca Théorème
2/6 of my decant reviews. As mentioned in 1/6, I'm reviewing these from the perspective of a first time user. I've not tried the originals before trying the dupes. Been spending a lot of time trying different perfumes in store, understanding notes and DNAs. Hence would be using what I understand here.
Let's dive in.
Rue Broca Théorème
If you're new to the fragrance world, you are prejudiced to a particular smell you've picked off of someone and felt like there are only a couple of DNAs out there. This is one scent you would never have smelled on anyone. It's that unique. Ofc, we have smelled sweet citrus and musk before, but this? Totally different from what you'd expect.
It clones Bvlgari Tygar.
The Scent
The profile is sweet citrus, amber and musk. That's it. It's that simple, yet smells so much complex than the usual citrus + musk freshies. The paan like smell people get with this scent is due to the fresh sweet citrus with the amber. But trust me, this is the paan you wanna smell like.
Opening
Heavy sweet citrus, nothing very serious. Instantly catches attention and turns heads. My aunt came running from the other room "humein bhi de aise acche acche perfumes." Couple days later when I applied again, she went "aaj accha wala lagaya haina?" It explodes, for the first 10 mins, seriously.
Dry-down
Straight up good Musk and Amber. Mass pleasing drydown, won't complicate it much. You'd wanna keep sniffing it
Life and performance
Strong projection for about 90-120 mins, depending on what kind of temperature and environment you're in. Here it's citrus heavy and sweet (in a fresh, welcoming sense)
Becomes a skin scent with an intimate bubble after. For about 6-7 hours. I apply my scents on pulse points and generously on clothes as well. For a city like Mumbai, it's almost a mandate, lol. That's a reason my 8ml decant lasted only through 3 uses. I have about 1.5 ml left.
Occasion:
I'd wear it for a brunch/evening snack. Don't know about work, I personally don't feel right about it. It could be used in a versatile way too. Could also be worn on a date (on lighter colored clothes as it gives off a summer and fresh vibe). Again that's my personal opinion, I like to dress for the occasion. So that applies to my scents as well.
Compliment factor
Loud? Check. Pleasing? Check. Unique? Check. Sillage? Check.
This one gets noticed. Couple of my friends have asked me about it. You read my aunt's reaction above too. Women like this scent! (General observation, not exhaustive)
Full bottle?
100% yes. I'd buy it just for its uniqueness and performance. Besides, I've grown to like it more and more with each sniff.
Blind buy worthy?
Yes. If you're not into sweet citrus freshies, you can always be the 1% of people who don't like it, and gift it to someone close to you. This would make a great gift.
Price
It's 13th March 2025 and rn it's going for about 1500-1600 for the 90 ml. I got my decant at 219.
This v/s Turathi Blue
I've read Turathi Blue also clones Tygar, but it has a denser and middle eastern touch to it. Again, haven't tried it first hand so can't comment further. Just wrote this for information and making a rounded post.
Overall
9/10 cus i believe nothing is ever perfect in life. Perfect is how we see things, and that's subjective. That being said, it's a beautiful and unique one. I like having it. I'll buy a full bottle soon.
