Funeral procession etiquette

TLDR; I was behind a funeral yesterday and everyone seemed annoyed when I stopped and gave them space.

Hi everyone, I've lived in Ohio for a while but I ori toginally learned to drive and grew up in TN. Yesterday on the way to work as I was getting off 270 I saw a funeral procession. In TN I was always taught you pull over and let them pass and you never get along side or definitely don't mix with it. However the procession passed at the light so after it turned green I stayed where I was for a bit and several cars began honking at me constantly. Then after it passed I got into the lane behind the procession, they were going the same way I needed to go, and stayed at the same speed there was a car next to me in the left lane as well. Well everyone behind us began honking again and eventually sped around us when there was room. Anyway I'm just trying to figure out what if any laws or etiquette there are for this here in Ohio as I've never had this come up til now.

Update: Wow, thank you all so much for your time answering my post. I have learned I can pass in a different lane. Although honestly I still probably won't just feels wrong to me.
