Feels very tone deaf to release a country song right now
Like everyone else says, she should have released it right when it debuted on SNL, before the election. Could have been a great "queer/women taking back country music from the bigots" moment. But releasing it now, 2 months into the facist's rule, when bigoted rhetoric is officially normalized... it feels really dirty and like a betrayal almost? It feels more like she's pandering to that crowd now instead of holding a middle finger to them. And why is she switching genres already when she JUST came onto the scene a year ago? It was cool when Beyonce and Post Malone did it, because they stuck to their genre for years and just wanted to do something different. But people are just getting to know Chappell as a popstar and all the sudden she wants to switch to country? People are just gonna think she's a country star. Idk it just feels very weird
