There was no “time skip”. Yoshida and Barem are wrong.

Some recent controversy has popped up regarding a possible time skip.

Barem states that this prophesied day will happen in 6 months. Then, in what should’ve been a weeks time at most, Yoshida says they have one month.

Somewhere between now and then the timeline has sped up. People are calling this a plot hole or retcon but I do believe Fujimoto did this intentionally as it’s a very obvious mistake/retcon. I think someone, possibly Fami, is feeding them false information. I don’t think Fujimoto made a mistake, I think Barem and Yoshida are both incorrect in their timeline.

This theory hinges on 1 of 2 things.

  1. The newest girl at the end of chapter 195 is the Death Devil. I believe this is almost certain, as literally the entire chapter is about death and how our protagonists deal and cope with it. Fujimoto has done this before, bringing in characters who coincide with tropes and themes dealt with in that chapter (Yoru appearing at the end of chapter where they say you’d need a war to break through the prison). If she is the death devil, then they are both wrong as she is already here, WAY ahead of schedule. I believe this would mean our characters were duped or that the prophecy could be a complete sham orchestrated by a higher power.

Or

  1. “The Great King of Terror” is NOT the death devil. I think this is a more crackpot theory, but I’d like to bring it up because I do feel it’s strange that they occasionally bring up that title still when we know it should be the death devil. Or we know as much as the characters do. Like I said this is less likely, but it’s been bugging me. If this does happen to be the case, then that also solves our timeline issue as they’d be talking about two different entities.

I am of the opinion that the girl at the end of 195 is the death devil, and that both Barem and Yoshida are wrong about this prophecy. It would also work with the idea that we are not to trust the horseman as revealed by Asa in 195. Fujimoto didn’t make a mistake, in my opinion, and it’s weird people immediately jumped to that instead of trying to theorize.
