Researching BIFL products?

I'm curious how you go about doing research for BIFL products. Most people are willing to do a bit of research to get a good quality product. But this can quickly turn into a frustrating time-suck given all the fake reviews, disinformation, and different points of view.

For example, I was recently looking to replace our old Sunbeam rice cooker. Seemed easy enough. One path was to check Wirecutter (even though compromised) to come up with Zojirushi, Cuckoo, and Hamilton Beach. Cross check here and add Tiger.

But then when you check the reviews (Costco, Amazon, etc.) you start to question what is the best bang for the buck for your use case. Especially if you don't need all the bells and whistles and aren't a freaking rice connoisseur. All of them have problems, like the nonstick coating flaking off or being overly complicated or dying in 9 months. I finally just gave up and a budget cooker with a stainless steel pot.

So how do you cut through all of this and not spend several hours researching a single product? What is your go-to methodology?
