Did anyone’s baby have severe jaundice, and grow up fine after treatment?

My daughter was born last week on Thursday morning. We weren’t discharged until late Friday night. Because of the holiday weekend, we just got in to see pediatrician this morning. Immediately we were sent to ER for her jaundice. We knew she had some, but did not know how serious it was. Foolishly listened to our parents who said it wasn’t that big of a deal and so common (is common, but IS A BIG DEAL)

Her levels were 28 upon arriving at the ER. After about 8 hours under light therapy they are at 19. She is responding. I’m terrified of the long term impact and risks to her health because of what happened.

Looking for similar stories where child made full recovery with no developmental issues after.

Other than not being startles much at all by loud noises (which also terrifies me. FTM) she didn’t seem to have any other symptoms of severe jaundice other than being yellow-orange

Edit: THANK YOU! Thank you all so much! The responses are really helping me deal with this. I really appreciate it very much. Definitely making the future outlook seem a lot less scary and that’s really helpful. I’m sorry I can’t reply to everyone, we are heading back in to visit baby girl. I really really appreciate the responses. ❤️
