Gave PTE Twice - Need Advice and Guidance (Target 79+ for 20 Points)

Hi everyone,

I’ve attempted the PTE twice now and I’m aiming for 79+ in each section to get the 20 points. Below are my scores:

1st Attempt:

Speaking: 71, Reading: 73, Writing: 76 and Listening: 79

2nd Attempt:

Speaking: 65, Reading: 73, Writing: 79 and Listening: 81

I have a few questions and would really appreciate your guidance, as I’m feeling a bit demotivated after investing so much time and money. I’ve also joined coaching classes now.

Background: • My Read Aloud went well in both attempts. • I did fumble a bit in Describe Image and Retell Lecture. • I practiced extensively using Alpha PTE and language academy, and consistently scored well in Speaking during practice. However, my actual test scores in Speaking are not matching my practice results.

Questions:

1. Could my low Speaking score be affecting my Reading score (since Read Aloud contributes to Reading)? Or should I focus more on improving Reading - Fill in the Blanks?

2. Is using the One-Line Strategy recommended ?

3. Should I complete my NAATI exam first and then attempt the PTE for the third time, or just focus on PTE right now?

I’m open to any suggestions or feedback based on my skills profile of 2nd attempt. I really need some direction on what should be my next step.

Thanks in advance!
