fluticasone propionate vs. fluticasone furoate
i was taking flovent (fluticasone propionate) for a long time and loved it but my insurance stopped covering it so i got switched to arnuity ellipta (fluticasone furoate). i thought it would be the same since they’re both fluticasone but i believe i had an allergic reaction to the ellipta (i am allergic to qvar and felt very similar to when i had that reaction).
i had no side effects with the flovent. has anyone experienced a similar situation?
i don’t believe it was anxiety symptoms (shortness of breath, throat tightening, face numbness) but i guess it could have been?. i have a lot of drug allergies and i’m always nervous taking something new so i guess it could’ve been just me panicking but i really don’t think so. i just don’t see how i could react to the ellipta when i was fine with the flovent, unless they are metabolized differently? can anyone help explain the difference between furoate and propionate? is it possible to react to one and not the other? google didn’t help me much.
i of course messaged my doctor and won’t take it again til i hear back but while i wait i thought i’d come on here and ask for stories. sorry for my rambling lol
