Seeking advice for moving from traditional to digital art

Hello! I normally paint with oil on canvas and I recently bought a huion kamvas 13. I'm having a lot more trouble with it than I thought I would, so if anyone else has switched from traditional to digital and was able to still create at least somewhat similar to the look of paint on canvas, I would be so appreciative of any advice, resources, tips, etc!

The issues I am running into is everything looking very cartoony (my style is more realism/semi-realism) and the brush selection seems very limited (I am currently using Krita, but open to suggestions for other programs).
